About Us

Churches Together South Tyneside (CTST) seeks to bring churches together to

serve the community in faith and action. Today that can be seen in our projects and

initiatives, in our weekly Prayer Points and annual Easter Sunrise Service, in our

involvement in the Faiths Forum and our highlighting of justice issues.

A little background:

• Founded in 1999 with the aim of meeting the needs of vulnerable people
• Priority at first to help young people at risk of homelessness which led to the Key Project, with 3 volunteers
• Previous support of the Vietnamese boat people, led to foundation of STARCH
• Both are now independent charities
• Faiths Together, funded by the Council, brought different faith communities together through visits and shared activities

Today

• Churches Together South Tyneside’s projects today, Happy at Home, Nurturing Dementia and Street Angels share this same aim to meet the needs of vulnerable people.
• We work in partnership with others through our involvement with Key to Life Foodbank, Money Advice South Tyneside and the Reflecting Together project.
• We actively support the Faiths Forum, aiming to bring our communities closer.
• We highlight justice issues through film showings, themed events, hustings etc
• We support prayer and worship events and resources

Churches Together South Tyneside values enormously the commitment, energy, creativity, enthusiasm and compassion of our staff, volunteers and trustees. We gain strength and confidence from our shared Christian faith across our churches to live out our mission here in South Tyneside.
